In the Name of Trees: A Community/Art Project

Trees interlink urban memories as do art museums, which preserve memories of past material culture and narrate stories of the past for future generations through art collections. In the 21st Century, art museums are no longer limited to exhibition and performing arts in fixed architectural spaces. Instead, they serve as catalysts to propel proactive, all-round, holistic, and open thinking. Art museums provide a platform for dialogues regarding urban public life.

“In The Name of Trees” organized by NTNU Art Museum is a community art project that incorporates arts into daily life by using the existing ecology, industry, and life patterns of the community as the blueprint, and old trees, shops, art collections, and temporary art projects as the pathway. Energy garnered through participation is transformed into driving motivation that triggers people to create experiences beyond everyday life.
